Georgia Tech Jazz Ensemble I and Symphony Orchestra Concert- February 21 at 7:30pm

Join us for an exciting evening of live music at the Ferst Center featuring the Georgia Tech Jazz Ensemble I and the Georgia Tech Symphony Orchestra. The Jazz Ensemble will be joined by local artist and Grammy award-winning jazz saxophonist, Mace Hibbard. Selections by Berlin, Gershwin, and Bacharach will be featured on the program led by Dr. Chip Crotts. The GTSO will be presenting a program of music all by American composers with a flavor of romance – Gershwin’s An American in Paris and Hanson’s “Romantic” Second Symphony. Jarrett Lafleur, PhD Aerospace Engineering, will return to campus to perform Rouse’s Flute Concerto as a winner of the GT Student Solo Competition. A highlight of the concert will involve Jazz Ensemble I and the GTSO joining forces to perform a studio orchestra arrangement of Legrand’s “You Must Believe in Spring.”

The concert is Tuesday, February 21 at 7:30 PM in the Ferst Center. Tickets are $10 to the general public and FREE with BuzzCard or StudentID.


Georgia Tech Percussion Ensembles, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band Concert- February 23 at 7:30pm

The Georgia Tech Percussion Ensembles, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band will present their first concert of the Spring 2012 semester on Thursday, February 23 at 7:30pm at the Ferst Center for the Arts on the Georgia Tech campus. The concert will include a variety of music from contemporary composers John Mackey, Eric Whitacre, and Frank Ticheli. It will also feature two compositions by the revolutionary American composer, Charles Ives, including Variations on “America” and A Son of a Gambolier, which is the musical basis for our world renowned fight song, “I’m a Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech.”

Admission is $10 for the general public or free with a student ID. Please join us for this exciting evening of musical excellence.
